Coast to Coast Road Trip

Here I go again – Piney Point, Maryland to El Dorado Hills, California – at least I have the Ultimate Driving Machine to get me there!

I returned to Piney Point today from Sacramento via San Francisco. Damn if I didn’t miss my first class upgrade by 30 seconds as someone faster than me snatched it. It’s like bidding on eBay – the guy with the fastest mouse click wins.

Coach was not all that badĀ on Virgin America. The flight was loaded with kids and they were all quite amusing, providedĀ I had my Shure earbuds set at near full volume.

My house in Piney Point seems unscathed – at least in the dark. Our community was surely fortunate. Lots of trees lost their lives in this storm.

So I came back to secure the house for a few months of my absence (nothing new) and to be present to have my car transported to California – so I thought. It turns out that I did not read the fine print – no guaranteed pickup date. Well I gave them a four day window and thought that would work. Maybe, maybe not.

Tomorrow I will mount the racks to the bimmer and improvise a box to transport most of my toys to California. I sure do miss my Mazda pickup truck as my main means of transport. But she is retired to Piney Point to live out her life as backup transportation.

So me and my 325xi will begin our second coast-to-coast trip sometime over the weekend. It’s a long drive, but we will make it a fun event. Updates nightly.

Oh – I found a lovely pool house in El Dorado Hills west of Sacramento on Highway 50 (gateway to Lake Tahoe). Life is good!

And life gets better mid-September when I and a few fellow adventurers (age 4 and 7 (& the 4 year olds mom)) begin an amazing jouney to Yosemite, Death Valley, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon and beyond. Oh my – life is good! I love California!
