Discovering Muscles that You Thought You Didn’t Have

The Giant Escape 0 Configured for Tame Local Trails

I finally picked up my new bike even though the Thule Side Bike Mounts for my car will not arrive until Monday. I simply brought an old blanket along and strapped the bike to the roof rack with some bungee cords.

While much of the country is experiencing record high temperatures, Northern California is midst of its seasonal rains (or snow, depending on your elevation). It has been raining about every day for the last week with more in the forecast well into next week. The Lake Tahoe ski crowd is, of course, Lovin’ it.

On Friday the forecast called a sunny weather today, so a young friend and I had planned our first ride on the American River Trail. Yet that forecast quickly changed, thus the new bike sat in the garage with little to do.

I did manage to take a trek up and about El Dorado Hills. It was invigorating! However as I had not been on a bike for some years, some unused muscles got quite a workout, and my butt is a bit sore. So as with anything, I will start slow.

The Giant Escape 0, so far as met my expectations – a modern solid feel. I can’t wait to get on it for an extended ride to Old Sacramento and back!
