Folsom Lake (yeah the infamous prison is a hop away)

I was planning my big first hike down to Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe this weekend, and I even bought my Bear Spray – but I got lazy and caught up in more house organizing. So I took my new bike down to Folsom Lake which is about three miles from me (I got a new bike buddy and she blows me away on the hills).

Folsom Lake is the product of the American River, thanks to a dam that always seems to be under construction. The American River is awesome. The lake is so so. What is cool is that the bike trails lead to places miles away, including old Sacramento.

The pool now is too cool for swimming, but the days are still warm and sunny. I am looking forward to this mild change in seasons. I keep forgeting Napa Valley is just a few hours away as well.  But I really need to get to Lake Tahoe before the snow flies, and next week may be the last opportunity. At the end of the month I need to return to Piney Point and secure that house for the winter.

I am still lovin’ California!
