Healthy Smoothie – Crappy Smartphone Cameras

Pretty standard stuff but the addition of Goji Berries and Chia Seeds it becomes a Superfood Smoothie!

I’ve altered my diet radically since I returned from Mexico and borrowed the concept of a recent book (and likely health fad) by not eating any meat for breakfast or lunch. Then, of course, limit portion size and only lean chicken and fresh seafood. But as I do not want to become some sort of health nut, a good grilled fillet mignon or lean loin pork chop once a month is a welcomed treat.

The whole concept of superfoods is not something that most academic nutritionists buy into, but there clearly are foods out there that have high levels of complex nutritional density. A few I picked up and am experimenting are pictured below.

I’m adding a bit of each of these in about about everything I eat – oatmeal in the morning, wild rice in the evening!

Now that I am back in the US I started playing with Instagram again. My problem is that I have the somewhat ancient iPhone 4 and the camera sucks. It’s OK in good light with a very steady hand, but as you can see in the last of the three smoothie photos, one-handed shooting results in a out-of-focus shot.

Sure there are artists that publish books with iPhone photos, and they look great, but a Smartphone camera is still about the worst camera one can use. Of course that’s not stopping billions of people from uploading trillions of bad photos and videos on sites like Instagram and Vine.

I plan to upgrade to the next iPhone release, and hopefully it will contain a decent camera, as good photographs are often spontaneous. I embrace the digital age as best as I can, but miss the days of full frequency analog music and Kodachrome 25.

Well I did move up to my first full sensor FX camera and professional lens. Now perhaps you understand why I don’t like to mess around with crappy smartphone cameras. Of course I won’t have the equipment to blame if I take and post anymore crappy photos!

I’m heading to Blacksburg, VA tomorrow for the weekend and they just happen to be having a Summer Solstice Festival. It likely will be my new home and is, of course, home to the both famous and infamous Virginia Tech. More on that as it develops.
