Netflix Still Rules

House of Cards – Only Flaw is that there are no Democrats in South Carolina Anymore!

I’m paying $7.99 a month for Netflix streaming video service. If I had one (instead of three) permanent address, I’d still pay for their DVD mail service, as not everything is available streaming.

Why? It is the best damn value out there. My friggin’ Sirius satellite service is more than twice that – and it basically sucks!

I just got smart and dumped my 2nd phone from Verizon and cut my data usage from 4 gig to 2 and saved $80 a month. I am paying $69 a month for Metrocast Cable in Piney Point, $99 a month for Dish Network in Blacksburg and $116 a month in my hole-in-the wall mobile home in West Virginia (which is worth it with a TiVo). Insane! Really do I need cable in places where I only stay 4 nights a month?

So I am always behind the times. House of Cards premiered back when I was in Mexico, streaming Netfix on a proxy server. I was just getting caught up on Mad Men.

What is great about being years behind in “must watch” TV viewing is that one can take in a whole season in a few weeks (or days if you have too much time on you hands).

Great, that’s how I watch TV these days. I’ll get to Season 2 in my own time. Meanwhile that Thrones Series on HBO, I forget the name, I’ll get to that someday.

Netflix is still about the best value out there (and I have yet to explore my Amazon Prime options and Hulu Plus).

I’m in Blacksburg tonight, as a wintery mix is upon us, followed by 6-8 inches of snow. Screw that. I’m not going anywhere tomorrow and I have a pot of Mike’s Killer Chile slow-cooking overnight. I may just get through Season One tomorrow!

Crap, I miss California!
