Rainy Day in DC

DC Row Houses – Likely Without the Mystery and Intrigue of House of Cards

I’m all moved out of Blacksburg, VA and my mobile home in West Virginia. Although I didn’t really furnish those places, it took four round trips to get all the stuff out (boy do I miss my truck). My list of things-to-do has never been longer in recent memory with the move, setting up the business, satisfying my client and major work to be done on my autos (new tires, brakes and windshield).

Today required a trip to DC to service the BMW with an oil change and 20 point check. All was well except for some sort of tensioning belt that needed replacement. One never gets out of a BMW Service Department cheaply, but $600 was well spent considering the possibility of a breakdown somewhere in the middle-of-nowhere, which is where I headed.

To handle the stress I finish the evening with an episode or so of Season 2 of House of Cards. My life then seems a bit simpler. Although fiction and pure entertainment, it does touch well on current issues and the intrigue of the DC Center of Power.

I managed to get a brand new 335i loaner and was able to take it out for a 3-hour test drive – pure awesomeness! Although the rain prevented me from getting out for a walk, that was not the intent. I was content to snap a few shots from the car and enjoy the remarkable handling of this vehicle, while pondering what would be like to be a DC Power Broker.

Well, no thanks! My list is now down to somehow organizing a house full of too much stuff and packing as light as possible for a few months away, ultimately for a road trip to the West Coast. I’m a day late with departure now planned for Monday morning at 5:00 a.m.
