Steppin’ Out is the last big summer event for the locals before the hoards of students return in three weeks. For me it was a disappointment. Too much redneck music, too many gun nuts and no beer! I am sure the locals had a good time, but the hundreds of craft vendors likely did not make much money (do they ever?).
Hundreds of Vendors and no one shopping?
For me, it did not matter, as it was my first weekend in Blacksburg. I did not have to drive home to Piney Point, and it was glorious! So I took a long bike ride, worked out in the fitness center, and picked up the last items needed for the apartment to live comfortably.
The crafts crowd sold all kinds of bangles, but little I, or any one else seemed interested in – hopefully they have eBay accounts!
In the end, it was good just to have a weekend without travel. And it is much cooler here than in Piney Point. Likely I don’t have to return until Labor Day – and that is fine with me!
