The Querétaro Aqueduct Renovation

Who would think not being able to make a left turn would be so annoying?

It’s 12-12-12 today, and some are saying it’s an anti-doomsday. Why, I do not know, but I guess to soften the soon-to-come end of the Mayan Calendar, and thus the end of the world as we know it. But it really is only the last of the great repeating dates to occur in our lifetime – a novelty at best.

Whether it is 12-12-12 or 12-21-12, it matters not to me. Right now my biggest challenge is dealing with Querétaro Christmas shoppers and the Aqueduct Renovation when it comes to getting around town.

The drivers here are annoying even on the best of days, but now seem to be out in record numbers and driving like dazed window shoppers. The diesel belching buses seemed to have doubled up in numbers as well. This city is not automobile friendly.

It’s great to see the Aqueduct under renovation. Yet in the photo above, do you see that concrete slab running over the tunnel? Well that is nornally my left turn home from El Cento and all major shopping areas. Not to make a left there requires a five mile detour!

If that’s my biggest problem I guess I have little to bitch about. I’m just slightly annoyed as I was stuck in a maze of traffic for over an hour last night. I also found out I am required here over the holidays, after making plans to visit friends and family. Now that is annoying!
