Instagram of the 1800’s — Scanning (what I think) is my Great Grandmother’s Photo Album

A massive storm is passing though Pacific Grove, so it is a perfect day to get some overlooked tasks completed (or at least started, as I tend to be lazy). This photo album had been comfortably packed in a box since we sold my mother’s house in 2008. I suspect she got it from her mother Helen.

There were dozens of loose photographs locked in the albums as well, some thankfully with names written of the backs of the photos. Sadly, there is no one left could identify most of those pictured. The names of the great aunts and uncles still may ring a bell somewhere back in the brain.

First, I am going to photograph each page of the album on the table, then scan each page at 1200 dpi on my Canon flatbed scanner. For the loose photos, I just may montage them on the scanner, as there are so many.

I wish it rained more here in PG. This storm, and the one following will do much to fend of pending doom of the water shortage across the West. It is projected to unleash rain and snow all the way to the East Coast.
