Me & My Bread Machine

Me & My Bread Machine

These bread machines have been around for decades, as I recall my sister and brother-in-law having one who knows how long ago. I’m not a big bread eater, but who can resist fresh hot bread, especially when you smell it baking.

And really—the stuff they sell in most grocery stores today passing a bread is a joke, often an unhealthful one.

I started this 50/50 whole wheat mix before heading to my shop for a few hours last night. Once setup properly, it takes about five minutes. When I returned, the entire house smelled like a bakery at 5:00 a.m.

The English Jam was an impulse buy from Amazon Pantry to get the order cost up to $35 for free shipping. I have not bought a jelly or jam in decades (mostly sugar), but those English do it right.

Of course, fresh bread has a short shelf life. On days 2-3 it is firm enough to slice super thin for toast at breakfast or an occasional mid-day deli sandwich.

Homemade breadcrumbs for spaghetti & meatballs for anything left. A bread machine (perhaps a bit smaller) will be a considered an option for the Sprinter Van Galley Module.
