Will Irene Outdo Isabel?

Isabel was the last devastating hurricane to hit the Chesapeake Bay. I rushed home from a NASA assignment with a portable generator and sat it out. That was foolish, as storm surge is the big threat in my community. We got lucky with the structures, but had major pier damage and extentive grounds cleanup.

Irene looks worse – much worse. Yet Isabel hit land south of us and passed up to the west. If Irene hits the Carolinas and stays offshore when passing the Chesapeake, my home, car, truck and boat may be spared. If not, I likely lose everything.

As I am in California and flights along the East Coast are already being cancelled, I will sit this one out. I return home on Wednesday – to a home  that is above water I hope! Wish me luck!

  1. Thanks my friend. I will find out tomorrow if I still have a home, car, truck and boat that is not underwater. I’m thinking positive!

  2. Hi Mike, I hope your home, car, truck, and boat are safe! Good luck with you!
