Mike's New Gym

Mike's New Gym

Who needs a dining room anyway? I was planning a trip back to Maryland in April to pack up all my stuff in a few large moving pods, and either sell my boat, tow it here, or give it to charity but . . . the CDC is now recommending old farts don’t fly. Granted the risk is low right now, but if the virus infections increase exponentially, as some predict, I’ll play it safe. I have about all I need in my new house here in California.

Right in my new doctor’s complex, about a mile away from the house, is a massive clinic-run fitness center with an Olympic-sized pool. I was going to sign-up this week after my annual checkup, but . . . the CDC is recommending that old farts stay away from groups of people. Even through there are no reported infections in Monterey Country, they are creeping closer.

I shopped around on Amazon, looking for cheap, but functional workout equipment. I picked up a small weight bench and lat-pulldown/rowing machine both for under $500. I could have set it up in the garage, but it is still a bit chilly out there. So, I set it up in what I think was supposed to be the dining room (or foyer). The equipment will be staring at my every time I enter or leave the master bedroom.

Crazy how people are acting here, buying out all toilet paper at the local Walmart and Costco. Toilet paper – really?

Anyway, I am glad I moved here working from the house, and not at the bottom of a quarry with 400 engineers crammed into a dozen double-wide trailers. Joby Aero has dozens of people helicoptering into that quarry from the Bay Area daily. The Google Earth screenshot of the quarry below is from 2018. Now it is populated with dozens of trailers, looking more like a dystopian city on a far way planet.
