Strengthening My Immune System while Self-Quarantining at Home – Part 1

Strengthening My Immune System while Self-Quarantining at Home – Part 1

This is the simple and inexpensive breakfast routine that I have adopted since living & working in my house fulltime. No, I am not trapped in the house. I walk daily, take the car for a short cruise, and bike to the beautiful Monterey Bay without encountering another human. But, if I choose, I don’t have to step into a store for the next three months.

Right after I awake, I, well you know, and then start with a large glass of water to take my two NAD+ capsules while I start my morning coffee.  NAD+ is short for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide. This supplement enables the transfer of energy from the foods we eat to our cells. When our cells need to perform essential functions, they ask our blood for energy in the form of glucose and fatty acids. NAD+ helps get that glucose where it needs to go, giving us better physical and mental energy – so they say.

With a fresh hot mug of black coffee, I hop back in bed (still chilly in the house). I log on to check Slack and a few email accounts and a stock market summary page. Ah, the world did not end overnight.

After my first mug is down, it’s time for some real food – almost. I mix up a scoop of Activated You, a flavored drink that combines prebiotics, probiotics, green superfoods – a powerful metabolic blend of stuff good for the gut. By now I am ready to eat something.
