The Scenic Route to San Francisco

The Scenic Route to San Francisco

After spending thousands of dollars getting my aging vehicle operating like new again, a road trip was needed to prove all the money was worth it – Pacific Coast Highway to San Francisco. It worked!

The first stop was Pigeon Point Lighthouse, as the morning fog and coastal clouds broke to a blue warm day. A tour bus of Eastern Europeans proved interesting while there, wondering how their views differed from mine. Do they really like tRump?

Then lunch at Half Moon Bay – a place I was considering making my home for a time, but for the goddam convergence of bay-area weekend tourists. The sea bass was excellent none-the-less. I will be back.

Hiking the Presidio was the goal before check-in. I walked my butt off. Every time I touch that place I learn a bit more. I am thinking there are thousands of empty dwellings; why not some for the homeless? Likely it would hamper the ambience (keep them in the tenderloin).

Entering the tourist trap of the city I took a brief nap after checking in. I canceled my planned real meal at a place lost in the shadow of the Salesforce Highrise, as once parked at the hotel, that was it – no more driving for the day.

I opted for a local fisherman’s stew in the heart of the tourist district. It was good. The last photo is a contraption in the alley outside the view of my room.

A junkie keeps swinging the thingy on the top around for hours. I witnessed him being “shot-up” by his dealer in the same alley. He is still doing crazy stuff, and I am wondering if I should go down and have a chat with him.

Ah – maybe in the morning. Excellent Korean breakfast in the morning.
