Why I Live on a Sand Dune

Why I Live on a Sand Dune

Remnants of a Pacific tropical storm got sucked up to Monterey Bay at the peak of this wonderful heat wave (wonderful only if you live on the coast). It was fascinating to endure four hours of crazy thunder & lightning with little rain last night. This is rare.

But the result was one hell of a scary fire developing with mandatory evacuations for hundreds—all in view from my front yard. I love California but would never live in the hills or forests.
